Oliver Callaghan House

The oldest brick dwelling on Main Street, this house was built for the clerk of the Alleghany court. The building has undergone numerous alterations during its years of use by various commercial and residential tenants. It began as a two-story, center-passage house with exterior-end chimneys. Finely carved mantels remain on the first floor, although little other original material survives on the interior.
