NDSU Extension Langdon Research Center Vic Sturlaugson Learning Facility

The Langdon Extension Research Center (LREC) was established in 1907 as part of the state agricultural college’s land grant mission. The LREC conducts research to maintain and improve northeastern North Dakota’s agricultural economy. The Sturlaugson Learning Center provides office space for scientists and administrators, with a computer-cluster classroom and a large meeting room. Architecturally, this structure plays with the vocabulary of wood cladding and framing materials along with familiar vernacular farm building details, such as barn doors, in ways that are knowledgeable, contemporary, and respectful in interpreting the best traditions of historic farm buildings.
