St. John’s German Evangelical Church was constructed by the Evangelical Colonization Society that founded Hebron in 1885. The German Gothic Revival building is constructed of local Hebron brick. A tall square tower dominates the center of the gabled facade and corner pinnacles mark the base of the spire. The congregation continues to conduct services regularly in the German language as an embodiment of local culture and ethnic traditions.
