After nearly thirty years of experience managing the enormous Downing bonanza farm two miles to the west, Frank A. Bagg and his wife, Sophia, established this bonanza farm in 1915 with eight structures moved to the site from the Downing farm. Because it was part of the later phase of bonanza farming, Bagg adopted the most recent business and management practices, including an increased reliance on gasoline-powered mechanical equipment that reduced the amount of barn space needed for draft animals. Most historic buildings on the site are of wood-frame construction, have wood shiplap siding, and wood-shingle roofs. The preserved site includes a main residence, a smaller foreman’s house, two bunkhouses, a long barn, cow barn, sheep barn, harness workshop, iron supply shop, granary, chicken coop, three privies, an icehouse, and various machine sheds.
