The United Steelworkers Local 1212 is a three-story rectangular structure sheathed in coralpink marble inside and out. Located only two blocks north of Midland's enormous former Crucible Steel plant, the town's commercial district saw more work shirts and steel-toed shoes than coral-pink anything. The restrained detailing of the structure and its open, glass-fronted lobby and meeting hall suit the needs of its sponsor, despite the seemingly incongruous color scheme.
