An excellent example of a Romanesque Revival building, the building served as Carbondale's city hall and courthouse. Although initially based in Binghamton, New York, Lacey made significant inroads into northeastern Pennsylvania in the 1890s, designing the county courthouse in Monroe County ( MN2) and eventually establishing his office in Stroudsburg.
