This house, built for a local philanthropist, is a large, elongated two-and-one-half-story structure with a gambrel roof and full-blown Georgian trim. Its walls, in pebble and dash, are unusual for Newport. Its most notable feature is its off-center main entrance with elaborately monumental ornamentation of double-story Cornithian columns supporting a pedimented gable and a blind balustrade set on smaller Ionic capitals.
