A half dome containing a hemispherical enclosure provides an extremely unusual cap to the central bay of the two-story Watts-Lamberd Building. Below are two floors of glazing that the thin framing members seem hard pressed to support. The display of merchandise to sidewalk shoppers was obviously a prime consideration in the design, but the reason for the hemisphere remains a mystery.
