Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center

-A A +A
1992, Abramovitz-Kingsland-Schiff. South side of 5th Ave. between Elm and 17th sts.

This addition to the college faces 5th Avenue with an aggressive, dramatically curved facade, mostly glazed above the first-floor entrance. Walls that are not glazed are faced in pink granite with broad white granite belt courses and quoining. Designed by a New York architecture firm, the center faces the Memorial Student Center (1969, Dean and Dean) on the north side of 5th Avenue. Faced in red brick with concrete panels, it, too, has a curved projection over the entrance.
