The wood-framed Gothic Revival building has a cruciform plan with an engaged, square-based bell tower on the right side and a smaller tower on the opposite side slightly behind the facade. This was the first organized church in Hays County (1847) and many of the church's founders established the town, intrinsically linking the church and town's history.
