This uninhibited house with its flaring roof, stepped-wall planes, and bold colors is unlike West University Place, the proper suburban community where it was built. Austin architect Heymann responded to his client's desire for a house that was open to nature, contained a variety of living and working spaces, and could incorporate architectural fragments that carried personal meaning for the owner. Will Fleming installed the extraordinary native plant landscape in the front yard.
