Orange County Courthouse

Occupying a site on the western edge of downtown, this three-story courthouse is a symmetrical block faced with buff brick and black granite. Additions to each side of the courthouse are by Orange architect Cook, the foremost modern architect of the Golden Triangle in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Farther east at 601 W. Division Avenue is the former Jack Tar Orange House Hotel of 1956 by Chicago architects Holabird and Root and Burgee in collaboration with Beaumont architects Golemon and Rolfe. Farther east still, at 200 W. Front Avenue, is the Orange Leader Building of 1963 by Gale Cook, featuring another of Cook's distinctive aluminum solar screens.
