The five-bay, side-gabled, central-hall-plan Gothic Revival house was built by Civil War veteran John Wilbur Keith and his wife, Haseltine Long, daughter of a prominent Beaumont businessman. Charles W. Traylor and his wife, Lura Perry, purchased the house in 1875 and their daughter, Clara, married the Keiths' son, James L., here in 1896. The house is open twice each year for tours.
