This notable building designed for the Sáenz family is one of the finest of Portscheller's creations. The L-plan one-story brick store is composed of multiple bays with door openings denoting its commercial function. The brickwork is intricate, extending from its Doric pilasters with molded brick bases to its architraves, and to a projecting cornice with minute dentils where, just below, the name “Nestor Sáenz” is embossed in brick. The site slopes to the river at its rear and the brick banqueta along the Juárez Street elevation steps down to the historic wharf area where steamboats once unloaded goods destined for Mexico.
