The two-story Rotan-Dossett House is among the finest residential buildings in Waco. Designed by St. Louis architect J. P. Annan, the house is an expressive and bold combination of Stick Style mixed with strong red brick and stone accents. This large house contrasts with two Prairie School–influenced residences at 1512 and 1516 Columbus Avenue.
Columbus Avenue Church of Christ (1926) at 1525 Columbus Avenue is by local architect Birch D. Easterwood in a straightforward ecclesiastical form. The Georgian Revival Harold H. Shear House (1910) and the Mediterranean Revival Nelson K. Smith House (1905) at 1401 and 1524 Columbus, respectively, are two handsome designs by Scott and Pearson.
