Swarthmore is a Pennsylvania version of a classic New England college town with the railroad separating the college from a small English-accented town center that then spreads off into a pleasant Victorian and early-twentieth-century commuter suburb, with many of its houses and churches showing the sophisticated design of metropolitan architects.
