Next to the cache is a log building with a side-gable roof. The logs are taller than they are wide, and, in fact, are 4-inch thick planks. The cabin was constructed by a Finn named Emil Ness in about 1928; Ness was said to have constructed four other such buildings around town. A man named Lindel was the first owner of this 17-foot-square building, which had several owners over the years and was added onto and expanded. When the building was donated by Jim and Peggy Arness, the additions were removed before the cabin was moved to the museum.
