City Hall (U.S. Post Office)
Taylor, a former partner of Cass Gilbert, fervently believed in classicism as the basis of an American national style. Nominally Georgian Revival in its red brick and limestone details, the former post office announces its importance with a trabeated portico of six Ionic columns and a broad platform of steps. The limestone came from Maine and the brick from local brickworks.
