Of the several commercial structures on William Street, this one, with a Queen Anne cast iron storefront in near-perfect condition, is easily the most impressive. The designers at the Mesker and Brothers foundry in St. Louis (whose identification appears on each pilaster's base and at the right side, first-floor level) had looked closely at recent English fashion as interpreted by New York architects.
