Perched on the edge of a hill with a jagged mountain backdrop, this angular stucco composition has a sculptural wooden roof whose eaves tip upward like the wings of a bird. Other Haertling houses in Boulder include the Brenton House (1978), 3752 Wonderland Hill Avenue; the Clamshell House (197?), 65 Bellevue Drive; the Gill House (1974), 730 15th Street; the Jorgenson House (197?) at 780 Flagstaff Road, with white concrete cylinders supporting cantilevered rooms under a flared copper roof; the Leaneagh House (1980), 52 Boulder View Lane; the Menkick House (1969), 165 Greenrock Drive, a sod-roofed, moss rock dwelling built against a 50-foot-rock; the Knudson House (1959), 420 Christmas Tree Drive; and the Volsky House (1963), 711 Willow Brook Drive, featured in the August 5, 1966, issue of Life magazine.
