Maxwell House

This encyclopedic example of High Victorian gingerbread is one of Colorado's most photographed homes. A multihued paint job highlights the profuse detail. Originally this was the simple frame house of grocer B. F. Potter. Frank A. Maxwell, a later owner, added the front section, wings, and much of the decorative trim in 1890–1891. He also added a third-story tower, balconied porch, and second-story dormers to complete this exuberant example of the Second Empire style.
