This two-story building in brick and terra-cotta by Drago of Monroe, Louisiana, is an imposing work of Beaux-Arts classicism, a style that flourished in Mississippi after the completion of Jackson’s New Capitol (JM16) in 1903. Externally, the principal feature is the giant-order Ionic portico; internally, it is the central stair lit by a stained glass dome.
