Robertson Flour Mill

Abandoned since 1925, this is one of few remaining water-powered gristmills in Colorado. The three-story, hand-hewn log structure is nearly 30 feet square and covered with vertical board-and-batten siding that uses wooden pins and square nails. Towers in the gable roof provided room for the machinery, whose wooden components were replaced by a roller system in 1886, when George Robertson purchased the mill. The south end had a water wheel, now dismantied, and the two-story north end had a loading dock. The mill house was made by combining two older cabins with a covered breezeway. The mill, on private, fenced property in a willow grove, is only partially visible from the road to the north.
