In 1870 the Reverend Bennet Putman acquired this site for the Bentonville Baptist Association in order to establish a school for grades one through nine. The association later sold the wooden school building, which by 1895 was known as Springdale College. In 1908, the City of Springdale commissioned Clarke to design a new high school on the site. This red brick building is highlighted with stone for the surrounds, the columns, and the modest balconies over the four entrances, as well as the window heads and sills, and the belt course. In 1927, a new high school was constructed elsewhere in the city, and an elementary school occupied the building until 1982. In 1995 the building was restored for its new purpose as an administrative center, with an addition to one of the eastern entrances.
