St. Peter and St. Mary Episcopal Church

-A A +A
1891, Boal and Harnois. 126 W. 2nd Ave. and Acoma St.

Like a Richardsonian suburban railway station, this exquisite stone structure looks natural. Rough gray rhyolite walls hide under the sloping eaves of steep-pitched hipped roofs, and the facade evokes a hillscape. Inside, the nave's open trusses, exposed rafters, and beaded roof decking suggest a beautifully crafted boat.
