Cottonwood Square Shopping Center

-A A +A
1975, John Todd, developer. Southwest corner of 23rd Ave. and 16th St.

In this unusually discreet, well-designed mixed-use complex in a residential neighborhood, second-story apartments under uniformly sloped roofs face elegantly landscaped 17th Street. The shops and offices on the first floor face the rear, opening onto a shopping center with many landscaped parking islands to mediate the usual asphalt eyesore. Burnt-orange brick, shake shingle roofing, and dense landscaping characterize the entire project.
