First Christian Church

-A A +A
1966, James Johnson. 2230 13th St. (southeast corner of 23rd Ave.)

A Neo-Expressionist shake roof sweeps down from a high peak to flare into wide, overhanging eaves, a form made possible by laminated wood arches. Clerestory windows lighten the composition. Single-story support buildings with low, pitched roofs extend the horizontality of the flaring eaves.
