House

-A A +A
1955, John Ahern and Martin Smith, builder; 2010 restoration and addition, Celestino Piralla and Cornelia Stumpf. 5507 Woodland Dr.

Designed to say the most with the least, a single deep overhanging and gently pitched front-facing gable is centered over the house’s entrance and extends to cover a picture window, a chimney, a screened porch just visible beyond a privacy wall, and a carport. A recent renovation restored the 1950s modernist core of the house, as well as adding office and library space and a pool, earning a preservation award from the Historic Savannah Foundation in 2011.
