Central Branch YMCA

-A A +A
1971, Crites and McConnell. North corner of 1st Ave. N. and 5th St. S.E.

The low, brick-sheathed walls of this complex, with its deeply cut-in windows, seems a fortress of sorts. The modish style of the brick box works best when placed within a landscape site. Here it tends to add a sense of bleakness to the landscape.
