A building was situated on the corner by 1850; in 1856 a three-story addition was built behind it, at 108 Washington Street. In 1870 the corner building was enlarged to three stories, and in style it became Italianate. Whetstone's Drug Store came in 1880, and the 1856 building was provided with a matching cornice.
