Outdoor Chapel

-A A +A
1989, Gunnar Birkerts and Associates. Section 16. Not visible from the road

Near the Bayside Restaurant and Lodge, the Outdoor Chapel fills a small clearing in the dense woods and is sheltered by a canopy of trees. The chapel is constructed of 8 × 8–inch stepped oak timbers that culminate in the center behind the altar to form a backdrop. It seats fifty people.
