Morgan Memorial Chapel

-A A +A
1887–1889, Cobb and Frost. 318 High St.

Connected to the north of St. Paul's is the exquisite, little, 200-seat Morgan Memorial Chapel. It is a single-gabled chapel with a south entrance porch. Buttresses support its beautiful rock-faced variegated Marquette sandstone walls. The Resurrection Window, a lovely stained glass creation manufactured by Tiffany Studio, fills the large Gothic opening in the front (west) gable. Its deep reds and blues fade in the center to pale greens, blues, and browns, and the whole contrasts with the rich wood of the hammer-beam ceiling and paneling. This addition to St. Paul's Church was commissioned by Peter White in memory of his son, Morgan Lewis White, and was executed by a noted Chicago firm.
