Showing the pronounced influence of the Queen Anne style, this fine Victorian eclectic residence was erected in 1886 for Abigail B. Tilton, who died shortly after its construction. Present are such highly unusual features as the front porch posts with their hood-arched braces, the thin arches between the posts, the elaborate porch balustrades, and the southeast corner pedimented gable enclosing a semicircular fan. Like the Charles E. Tilton mansion (see BE35), also in Tilton, the Abigail B. Tilton House demonstrates the seemingly limitless possibilities for aesthetically and functionally creative uses of wooden building materials.
