The Altenberg family, early settlers of Battle Mountain, built the Nevada Hotel across the street from the railroad depot, and the business has remained in operation ever since. In the mid-twentieth century the owners installed a modern facade of alternating aquaand cream-colored metal screens, but the original brick walls can be seen along the sides and rear. The interior has been substantially altered.
