The reinforced concrete trusses that support the roadbed extend above the paving as driving barriers, a novel and practical safety solution. Balustrade railings of cast concrete and newels form pedestrian walks on both sides of the bridge. The 102-foot-span bridge is the only one of its type in Texas.
