The courthouse, by St. Louis architect Robert G. Kirsch, dominates the hilltop, with its projecting central entrance bay rising to become a tall, square, and visually compelling clock tower, with decorative pediments on each of its sides and a small dome. The courthouse is constructed of red brick with white trim. It evades stylistic categorization, however, and only hints at classicism, similar to the architect’s Randall County Courthouse (PH13). A Postmodern addition to the rear of the courthouse on E. Purcell Avenue mimics the original with a shallow dome.
