Movement of Jesus Church (Sacred Heart Catholic Church)

-A A +A
Sacred Heart Catholic Church
1879. 102 Holbrook St.

At the northern end of the Holbrook-Ross neighborhood stands this church that initially had a white Catholic congregation but now serves as an African American Apostolic church. The frame building is a picturesque version of Romanesque Revival with tall round-arched windows beneath wooden semicircular head moldings. A central tower has double windows above a central entrance crowned by a keystoned hood molding beneath a vestigial canopy.
