Local labor and materials built this typical oneroom frame schoolhouse. It was “improved” in 1922, when windows were relocated to provide better light and a shed-roofed front porch was added. A long-handled iron water pump and trough remain near the steps to the porch. The school was used until 1942, when it closed because of low enrollment. Although the building now serves as a community center, the interior remains fitted as a schoolroom, with tilt-lid desks, slate board, and chalk rail.
