Bungalow

-A A +A
Early 20th century. 218 German St. (southeast corner of German and Duke sts.)

Just when one begins to think that Shepherdstown ceased to build sometime in the midnineteenth century, this exemplary bungalow jolts one awake. The low-lying brick house has tapered piers, extended eaves with exposed rafter ends, long roof planes, and an overall horizontality, all typical of the type.
