  • Kitson Apartments (S. Allen Chambers, Jr.)

This solid line of eleven brick row houses tight against the sidewalk is typical of any eastern metropolis. However, the group is a surprising urban type in a small town whose population was only 3,000 when they were built and where single houses set in yards are the norm. Bracketed metal cornices once capped the otherwise unadorned three-bay units, but simpler overhangs now replace them. The unit at the upper end (number 24) carries the same cornice line but has new facing and slightly different fenestration spacing.
