-A A +A

Bandera was founded in 1856 as the seat of Bandera County, which was organized in 1857. The county seat has remained relatively isolated, with no rail connections. Beginning around 1920, sheep ranching and the marketing of wool and mohair became a major source of income for Bandera County.
