The Minneapolis architect effectively created a minimalist two-story cut-into box. The main floor mounted over the garage has a pair of side-by-side porches deeply cut into the volume of the house. A high clerestory arises behind, its end walls forming a single plane with the house below. The wide garage door, which is painted to match the white color of the wood-sheathed house, has as its decoration a single row of four projecting aluminum “can” lights, while the front door to the side is painted a contrasting color and is deeply set into the wall.
