Certainly one of the most refined of the wood-sheathed Italianate houses in Iowa, this two-story house has a T-shaped plan that encompasses a dependency to the rear. The gabled ends of the dwelling are articulated by a pattern of brackets of a similar scale. There are traditional round windows in the gables; the remaining windows have lintels that are segmented curves. Extensive porches, now glassed in, appear at the front and to the side.
