Hyatt Harborside Hotel (Hyatt Harborside Conference Center)
The undistinguished fourteen-story brick-clad structure's cylindrical glass-enclosed elevator (a Hyatt trademark) is positioned at the south end of the hotel, providing riders with panoramic views over the harbor while in motion. The small lobby contains terrazzo flooring depicting a map of Boston, the harbor and surroundings, and a ceiling fresco, where a pseudo-classical cupidlike Echo supposedly simulates the effect of listening to a seashell on the beach, maritime themes appropriate for what the management deems a hotel/lighthouse in Boston Harbor. Still, the most seductive aspect of the hotel is the glass wall of the lounge facing the harbor. Here conferees and snowbound guests may enjoy unparalleled views of Boston without the vicissitudes of wind and weather.
