This seven-story load-bearing office building that commanded the south side of Scollay Square recalls the vibrant architectural character of that lost Boston intersection. Constructed of red brick and with sandstone trim, the exterior is richly detailed with rusticated window surrounds and foliate spandrels suggestive of the early French Renaissance. An intricately carved stone turret supported by a two-story twisting colonnette occupies the corner of the building at the sixth floor; an oriel window surmounts the Tremont Street entrance. The variously grouped sash windows with fixed lights above provide interest and illumination for this handsome commercial office building.
