Resort Hotel (Motel)

The resort motel is of log construction. Log walls are laid horizontally with interlocking corners and rise to steeply pitched hipped and gabled roofs clad in corrugated metal. The log walls, the beach-stone chimney, and the Drummond Island limestone (dolomite) walkway combine to place the building in the vernacular wooden building tradition native to northern Michigan. Easily transportable, the corrugated-metal material is ideally suited to island building. The Rock, a golf course on four hundred acres designed by golf course architect Harry Bowers, is near the hotel.
