As an engineering feature, this cut-and-fill railroad embankment is impressive, placed almost entirely by hand with minimal mechanical equipment. It leveled a twenty-mile stretch of the Great Northern Railway’s now abandoned and removed rail line. The so-called Million Dollar Fill descends to the Yellowstone River and Fairview-Cartwright bridge (MZ1) and tunnel complex.
