The city's largest hotel was built by a firm with offices in New York City and Chicago that designed and constructed hotels and apartment buildings in Midwest and East Coast cities. Located on the hill away from the railroad tracks, the five-story Colonial Revival red brick hotel was designed as a luxury establishment. The grand lobby retains its marble floors and original light fixtures, and the former ballroom now serves as a restaurant. For many years, an enormous neon-lit sign on the hotel's roof advertised its presence and was visible for miles; this was removed in September 2020 when the hotel was renamed.
