The Reverend George W. G. Van Winkle held strong views on the appropriate setting for Episcopal worship. He was probably influenced by the Ecclesiological Society, and his design opinions may have been informed by Richard Upjohn’s Rural Church Architecture (1852). The Gothic Revival former church is typical of those modified for small communities throughout the nation, with its simple rectangular form, gable front, portico, buttresses along its brick walls, and steeply pitched roof. The church was converted into a coffee house in 2005.
