The house built for Judge D.J. Leahy suggests a local mixing of the California Bungalow and Shingle styles. Drawing from both sides of the United States, the Leahy House returns the two styles to their vernacular origins with a simple cross gable design. Compared with grander estates like the Stern House, one street over, the relatively modest Leahy House occupies a comparatively narrow double lot with a set back of 40 feet, a frontage of 50 feet, and the standard depth of 147.5 feet.
